Shayla + Skyler Wedding Day | Ivy House Salt Lake | Salt Lake Utah Wedding Photographer
“Be Prepared” is not only the boy scout motto and the song the villain from Lion King sings, but also the advice we took when taking lots and lots of shots at the Salt Lake City Utah LDS temple during Shayla & Skyler’s formals because we were pretty sure it would be freezing cold on their wedding day. And we were right! Their wedding was a beautiful and bright and absolutely frigid day. I always try to think ahead and make sure i’m prepared for lots of different possibilities, but I was EXTRA glad we thought ahead this day.
Their reception was at The Ivy House in Salt Lake City. I had never shot there before, but there’s a first time for everything and i’m glad because it’s a darling venue. As you could probably guess, the outside walls were covered in gorgeous plant-life, but the inside was no letdown. There were elegant, unique light fixtures, beautiful exposed wood beams, and a hardwood dance floor. Shayla & Skyler had a great time with friends and family and it was basically just a gigantic, amazingly fun dance party. The bridesmaids and groomsmen all looked great and contributed to the dancing. Even Shayla’s mom was really into it!
Speaking of Shayla’s mom, she could totally have a future in wedding planning if she wanted it. This was her first time planning a wedding, and I think she did a fantastic job. I loved the greenery, the candles, and the touches of metallic accents here and there. She put most of the decor together, and it looked anything but amateur.
