The Harrison Family | Logan Utah Family Photographer
I’ve had the pleasure of shooting family photos for Jake and Jaycee twice now over the past few years, and I am thrilled to share these new images now that baby Graham is a year old! I shot a lifestyle session in their home about a year ago when Graham was just a tiny little thing, and you can see those photos here. It’s so fun to see how much he’s grown and see his little personality beginning to bloom. I love repeat clients for exactly that reason. It’s not only the little ones growing - I get to catch up with the parents too and see how they’ve grown in their careers or progressed in school or pursued their goals over time. It’s inspiring and uplifting to see how much can change in a year.
We shot this mini session at Green Canyon, and the reduced session time was a perfect fit for this little family. Graham was so sweet and you could tell he loved being outside. I really make it a priority in my family shoots with little kids to try to let the kids direct the shoot (within reason), and just capture the fun and silly moments between the family members. Kids are SO intuitive, and when the parents are less stressed about trying to make the kids face the camera directly or sit a certain way or have a particular pose, it really makes a difference in how relaxed they feel, and the kids can really sense that, and it helps them stay more relaxed too. Jake, Jaycee, and Graham were a perfect example of that during this shoot.
Jaycee found me because she and my little sister became good friends when they played on the high school softball team together. It seems like decades ago that we would go cheer them on in the crazy Utah weather. There were games where we bundled up to endure the snow, games that we got sunburned, and everything in between. Sports/action photography have never been my thing, but it was fun to capture the occasional special moment and just cheer for my baby sis while my husband and my dad debated which kind of sunflower seeds were the best. I’m so glad my sister and Jaycee became friends, because I have had a blast shooting for the Harrisons and getting to know them better!
