Dreams & Goals

Lately ive been focusing on refining my dreams and goals for myself and the paths that Ill take to get there. Its refreshing to put some of my focus back on the things that I REALLY want to ACCOMPLISH.

I used to live life in a way that I didn’t spend hardly any time at all focused on dreams and goals. Infact, I forgot how to dream and my goals were always small and things that I THOUGHT I should want to accomplish. I went through a few transformative years (that will be a whole other blog post one day) and remembered and relearned not just to set and accomplish goals that I thought I could obtain, but to push myself outside of my comfort zone and hope for dreams that felt big. Dreams that felt scary. But one of the biggest things I learned is that you have to feel the fear, and then do it anyways. Because fear is an important part of courage. Infact, its a nessecary part of courage. If you dont feel fear about doing something, then its not really courageous to do it. Its just doing something. Im so happy to say that I have already been able to achieve some of my dreams. So here it is - my top 5 dreams and goals for myself.

  1. Travel to Europe- ACCOMPLISHED! I have wanted to travel to Europe ever since I can remember. Its always been about simply getting outside my corner of the world and seeing more ways of doing things. Experiencing things I dont have the opportunity to experience here in Utah. Last November I was able to travel to Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Berlin and Malmo and it was such a great trip (even though I lost my luggage 2 days into the trip haha).

  2. Host workshops - ACCOMPLISHED! This one comes from my love of teaching and helping other people suceed! That is definitely a passion of mine! Just last month I hosted a workshop as part of The Focus Collective in St. George and it has been AMAZING to see our attendees put into action the things they learned and see them growing as photographers and as people!

  3. Host a podcast OR write a book. I haven’t quite figured out which platform id prefer, but this one is again about getting to teach and help other people. I dont know exactly what I would talk/write about, but every time I think about it, I feel a little fire inside my soul and I love the idea of having a platform to inspire and uplift people! Ive been through some hardships and I want to help other people who have been through he same things.

  4. Live a life where I can take consistent vacations. This one may sound pretty dang selfish. And ultimately it is. But for me, vacations aren’t about living a life of luxury, its about making memories and spending quality time with my most important people. Its about keeping my priorities in check and always making time for the people I love the most. My parents were blessed enough to be able to take several vacations a year, usually just the two of them, but sometimes they would take the entire family and those are some of my most cherished memories with my family because we were away from our everyday lives and distractions and we spent true quality time focused on each other. That’s something ive always wanted for my little fam.

  5. Teach my children to “Have courage and be kind” (and keep practicing that myself). These two things sum up what I feel is important to teach my kids. I want them to be themselves and to take their own paths in life. I dont care if they grow up to be a doctor or lawyer or some other prestigious career. But if they want to be those things, I want them to have the courage to go after what they want. Whatever they want. And I want to teach them the importance and power of being kind to others at all times. To all people. Even those who dont deserve it or have treated them unkind. Kindness matters always.
